Homemade Hamburger Helper

Grocery List:

  • Ground beef (2.4 lbs)
  • Onion (1)
  • Elbow macaroni (12 servings = 1.5 boxes)
  • White cheddar cheese (one 8 oz block)
  • Flour (3 TBSP)
  • Milk (2 cups)
  • Beef broth (1 cup)
  • Dijon mustard (2 TBSP)
  • Seasonings: salt, pepper, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder

Directions:

  1. In a large pot bring water to a boil. Add the pasta, cook until desired tenderness. Drain and set aside
  2. Dice your onion
  3. Add 2 TBSP olive oil to a large pan/wok. Add the diced onion. Cook until desired tenderness and then add the ground beef.
  4. Cook the ground beef until it is done, drain the beef and onion mixture, and return it to the pan
  5. Cut cheese block into small cubes
  6. Add the cheese, milk, beef broth, flour, Dijon, and seasonings to the cooked ground beef. Bring to a light boil and let it simmer until the mixture thickens a bit.
  7. Top the noodles with the hamburger mixture and garnish with parsley
